Gondan to build ice class trawler for Norwegian company Engenes fiskeriselskap

The vessel is of NVC 370 design with a low resistant aluminium superstructure from Rolls-Royce. The vessel’s hybrid propulsion system will consist of a B33:45 diesel engine, Promas integrated propeller system and HSG drive system. Rolls-Royce will also deliver electric trawl winches driven by permanent magnet motors, as well as automation equipment.

Shipowners Johannes Arne and Børge Arvesen of Engenes fiskeriselskap, said: “This is a milestone for our company and carries on the proud traditions of trawl fishing in our part of Norway.”

The stern trawler will be DNV classified and ice classed, with operational efficiency, low emissions and crew comfort and safety important criteria in the development of the vessel design. The vessel is expected to operate in the Northern Atlantic, Barents Sea and Svalbard region, where it will undertake bottom trawling as well as pelagic trawling.
