The YM Wonderland and YM Wisdom were named on 21 December at a ceremony attended by Yang Ming chairman, Bronson Hsieh, and the president of National Ocean Taiwan University, Chang Ching Fong.

The 14,000 teu vessels are the second and the third of five full-container vessels Yang Ming chartered from Imabari subsidiary, Shoei Kisen Kaisha, and are the sister vessels of YM Wellbeing which was delivered to Yang Ming this October. The ships are designed with a nominal capacity of 14,220 teu and come equipped with 1,000 reefer plugs. Length is 366.44m, beam 51.2m, summer draft 15.52m and the vessels can cruise at a speed of up to 23 knots.

Yang Ming is expanding its service by adding ten new 2,800 teu container vessels together with the charter of ten 11,000 teu new-built vessels this year to strengthen its position in the industry.

The ships are due for delivery in February 2019 and will be deployed on the Alliance Asia-Europe service.
