Japan Marine delivers new VLCC
The Eneos Earth has been designed with the environment in mind and is the first domestically constructed VLCC to use an SOx scrubber which cleans harmful emissions using seawater spray.
Additionally the vessel has energy saving features such as the Super Stream Duct, SURF – BULB and ALV – Fin to reduce fuel consumption. An electronically controlled engine, low friction paint and a large diameter propeller also help to reduce the amount of fuel used.
Ocean performance has been improved by adopting the bow shape, LEADGE-BOW, which also helps to reduce noise pollution.
Corrosion protection is compliant with the International Maritime Organisation’s Performance Standard for Protective Coatings regulations and the vessel also meets SOx emission control rules.
The VLCC has a length of 339.50m, depth of 28.5m and a gross tonnage of 160,723 tonnes. The engine is a WinGD W 7 X 82 diesel engine and the top speed is 15.5 knots.
