K Line launches new bulk carrier
The Cape Sapphire was built by Imabari Shipbuilding and is compliant with the Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers and is equipped with a MES MAN-B&W 6G70ME-C9.5 engine with enhanced anti-corrosion measures.
To save energy, a weather adapted duct has been installed in front of the propeller together with a hybrid fin behind. Scrubbers have been fitted to ensure compliance with the sulphur cap coming into force in January 2020.
Length overall is 299,950m with a width of 50m and depth of 24.7m. Gross tonnage is 107,454 tonnes and speed is 14.5 knots. She will be used to transport iron ore and coal for Japanese steel mills.
