Ulstein delivers service operation vessel to Acta Marine

The new vessel for Netherlands-based Acta Marine is of the Ulstein SX195 design type developed by Ulstein Design & Solutions.

“Building on experience with our first Ulstein Walk to Work construction support vessel Acta Auriga delivered to us last year, we are highly confident that Acta Centaurus will be very well suited to operate in the offshore, and specifically the renewable market. We will now get ready to bring her out to the Offshore Wind Farm to commence work,” says Rob Boer, managing director of Acta Marine.

Second vessel

This is Ultein Verft’s second service operation vessel for Acta Marine. The previous vessel, Acta Auriga, was delivered in 2018.

The vessel features X-BOW® and X-STERN® hull designs to minimise hull vibrations in heavy seas. The X-STERN® offers higher in-field flexibility and improved winter workability. When keeping the stern facing the weather on dynamic position (DP) the vessel will be able to stay positioned with lower thruster load, resulting in a lower fuel consumption.

The Acta Centaurus is classified by DNV GL, and is 93.4m long and 18m wide. The vessel can accommodate up to 120 persons and is fitted with a helideck to further support offshore operations.

It has a large, centrally positioned walk to work motion compensated gangway and elevator tower for personnel and cargo transfers. Furthermore, it will have a 3D compensated knuckle boom crane capable of six-tonne cargo lifts.

The vessel is equipped with a fuel-efficient drive system including battery-solution from Ulstein.
