WE Tech expands into SK shipbuilding market

WE Tech is to deliver its energy efficient Solution One (Economic Operation Solution) together with a direct drive dual winding permanent magnet shaft generator to a series of two very large petroleum gas carriers. The package includes the WE Drive™, cooling unit and Dedicated Power Management System (DPMS).

The solution significantly decreases the vessels fuel consumption, operation expenditure and maintenance cost by turning off the Auxiliary generator during sailing. In Power Take Out (PTO) mode, electrical power is generated with shaft generator driven by the efficient two-stroke main engine, which also drives the main propeller of the vessel.

“Thanks to WE Drive™, the propulsion machinery can be operated at optimal duty points at all vessel speeds. Substantial fuel savings and operational cost reduction can be achieved from optimising propulsion machinery and reducing auxiliary generator operation”, says Mr Peter Lindstrom, Sales Manager of WE Tech Solutions.

“With the Dedicated Power Management System (DPMS), various operation modes of the ship as well as start/stop sequences can be easily controlled. The DPMS also interfaces with other control systems on board a ship”, added Lindstrom.

Delivery of the equipment will commence in September 2020.
