Cummins to use digital twin and SPDM technology for engine research
Ansys noted that by leveraging Ansys’ tools and SPDM platform, Cummins would be able to accelerate the development of innovative engines, improve torque and output significantly, enhance thermal efficiency and lower fuel consumption, with consequent reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
The software was also likely to improve the efficiency of Cummins’ widely distributed research teams, streamlining simulation engineering workflows. Meanwhile, Ansys’ physics-based digital twins would also improve product development processes, and could also lead to subsequent product health management decisions, Ansys suggested.
The software will be also applicable to Cummins’ research into alternative fuel engines.
