Ship data management made easier

Ship Data Center’s (ShipDC) Internet of Ships Open Platform (IoS-OP) has been installed on a bulk carrier built by Shin Kurushima Sanoyas Shipbuilding, enabling the performance data of the vessel, already in service, to be collected onboard and sent onshore via Furuno Open Platform (FOP), a ship-shore data transmission service by Furuno Electric.

In this case, FOP collects the navigation data from the VDR and engine data from engine data logger and transfers this data to ShipDC, a subsidiary of ClassNK.

The data has been analysed by NAPA Fleet Intelligence, offering ship performance monitoring, reporting, analysis, and optimisation.

The analysis result was then shared with Shin Kurushima Sanoyas Shipbuilding in line with the common rules of IoS-OP, enabling the shipyard to monitor the performance of the ship in service. The vessel is the first to incorporate all elements of IoS-OP.

The vessel is equipped with energy-saving add-ons developed by Shin Kurushima Sanoyas Shipbuilding, and IoS-OP enables the effectiveness monitoring of these functions in actual operations by the parties involved, which is expected to lead to further optimisation.
