ExxonMobil launches NZ low sulphur barge deliveries
The service was introduced on 4 May following the arrival of MT Korimako, which is currently the only bunker barge in operation at the Port of Tauranga. The deliveries cover two grades of IMO-compliant, low-sulphur marine fuel, namely, DMA 0.001%S (Ultra Low Sulphur Marine Diesel) and DMB 0.01%S (Low Sulphur Marine Diesel).
The service enhances the company’s offer in port and the wider Asia Pacific region. As a result, fuel deliveries are now available for vessels berthed at Sulphur Point along with land-based refuelling for those moored at the port. ExxonMobil expects that the service will significantly reduce vessel wait times and help to reduce port congestion at the port, as vessels will no longer have to wait for a berth to become available to refuel.
