The signing of the memorandum of understanding coincides with Cop26 in Glasgow, where reducing global greenhouse gases is at the top of the agenda. The combined services will support the maritime industry in reaching this goal without requiring any upfront capital costs.

“Combining our services paves the way for ready to market zero emission solutions,” explained Ard-Jan Kooren, president and chief executive of Kotug International. “Our modular and scalable E-Pusher design is readily available for large scale assembly.”

PwrSwäp uses swappable batteries on a pay-as-you-go basis to deliver energy when and where required, delivering 100% uptime, eliminating carbon and minimising maintenance.

Kotug’s E-Pusher Series is a range of scalable electric pusher tugs with a draft which is said to be 30% less than conventional pusher tug designs. Due to its modular design, E-Pushers can be delivered in around half the time of other models on the market, with a range of vessels to suit varying needs.

Kotug also has a smart tool for route and reporting – Kotug OptiPort – an automated dispatching system based on historical and real-time information which bridges port and terminal information with ship operations.
