Havfram and CIMC-Raffles to build next-generation WTIVs

The first vessels will be built at CIMC-Raffles’ Yantai yard in China for delivery in 2024. The plan is to operate several vessels in the global offshore wind market with both traditional jack-ups for turbine installation as well as a feeder-solution for the US market in particular.

The WTIVs have been designed and created by an offshore wind team in partnership with ship designer Gusto MSC which produces the NG-16000X self-propelled turbine installation jack-up vessel. The NG-16000X includes the GustoMSC Rack & Pinion jacking system with a variable speed drive, which is uniquely integrated to offer high performance, reliability and safety for more than hundreds of jacking.

The design of the latest WTIV is reported to include green technologies and lessons learned from more than a decade of experience from WTIV operations and offshore wind construction.
