Hydrogen-ready CSOV

The Edda Breeze was named at Gondan’s facilities in Castropol, Spain at a ceremony attended by representative from Edda Wind, shareholder companies Østensjø Rederi and Wilhemsem, and energy company Ocean Breeze, for which the new CSOV will operate.

The order for four CSOVs was placed two years ago and a further order in February this year now brings the total to five.

Designed by Salt Ship Design, Edda Breeze has a length of 88.3 metres, a beam of 19.7 metres and is prepared for the installation of zero emission hydrogen technology.

With accommodation for 120 people, 93 technicians and 27 crew members, the vessel will support the charterer Ocean Breeze during its operation at the Bard Offshore 1 wind farm in Germany.

It will be equipped with automated equipment including a 3D motion compensated crane and motion compensated gangway with a maximum range of 28 metres for personnel transfer and an integrated elevator with capacity up to 26 persons.

The future zero emission propulsion systems have been made possible through funding from Enova SF, a Norwegian government enterprise responsible for the promotion of environmentally-friendly production and consumption of energy.
