LGM Engineering wins methanol fuel supply system orders
The order was signed in June 2022 with Ningbo Xinle Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd, and New Dayang Shipping Co., Ltd, for installation on six 1,170 teu dual fuel container vessels.
The scope of supply includes a fuel storage tank with associated monitoring systems, an Alfa Laval methanol supply system module, a methanol fuel supply system, an ESD system and a N2 generator and booster system. The EPC delivery also includes system commissioning, the methanol trial, and crew training. The delivery of the equipment to the yard is scheduled to begin in June 2023.
The systems will be installed on board six 1,170 teu container feeders ordered by Singapore-based shipowner X-Press Feeders. The six dual-fuel container vessels are understood to be powered by MAN Energy Solutions’ dual-fuel ME-LGIM engines, capable of operating on methanol or conventional fuel.
X-Press Feeders noted that the dual-fuelled container feeders would operate the ships on routes in Europe and the Americas trade routes, in line with its plans to operate its first ‘zero-emission ready’ vessel by 2025.
