11th hybrid RoRo for Grimaldi

The Eco Adriatica has a number of technological solutions to optimise performance, halving CO2 emissions per unit transported.

Flying the Italian flag, the Eco Adriatica has a length of 238 metres, a beam of 34 metres, a gross tonnage of 67,311 tonnes and a service speed of 20.8 knots.

The loading capacity of the seven decks – two of which are hoistable – is twice that of the previous class of short sea RoRos deployed by the Grimaldi Group. In total the vessel can carry around 7,800 linear metres of freight, equivalent to around 500 trailers and 180 cars

The vessel is equipped with electronically controlled engines and an exhaust gas cleaning system for the reduction of sulphur and particulate emissions. During port stays the Eco Adriatica is capable of cutting emissions to zero by using mega lithium batteries with a total power of 5 MWh. These are charged during transit using shaft generators and 350 sqm of solar panels.
