K Line choses Seawing for coal carrier

Completed on 11 September 11, the 88,000 dwt Corona Citrus is also equipped with a ballast water treatment system and SOx scrubber.

Mounted on the bow of a vessel, the Seawing comprises three main parts.

Bridge equipment oversees the operation of the kite as well as collecting and analysing weather and marine data to optimise the ship’s route.

Deck equipment consists of a mast, trolleys, winches, and a storage space which houses the wing when not in use.

Flying equipment includes the parafoil wing, a flight control pod and an umbilical cable to control the automated and optimal flight of the wing.

The newly installed Seawing is expected to reduce CO2 emissions from the ship by at least 20%, helping K Line achieve its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets.
