Aramco licenses carbon capture tech to Swiss cleantech firm

Saudi Aramco Technologies Company has successfully demonstrated its MCC technology in passenger road transportation and, more recently, in a heavy-duty truck with up to 40% carbon capture. According to Daphne Technology, the underlying technology is scalable and can be applied to the maritime transportation market.  

Daphne Technology plans to explore ways to adapt and integrate the technology with its proprietary solutions for deployment on large commercial vessels. The company is working towards a pilot installation of its catalyst-free SlipPure methane reduction technology, and has also developed a desulphurisation solution, SulPure. 

The Motorship previously reported that Daphne Technology was able to reduce energy consumption in its SulPure solution by using a patented Electron Chamber, a cartridge that is electrically powered by Daphne’s patented Wavelet Pulsed Package (WPP™) power supply. Rather than transferring electrical energy to the Electron Chamber as a single pulse, the WPP distributes it over an interval of several consecutive bipolar high voltage pulses. Testing has shown that this reduces power demand by over 30%.
