Autonomous eco-vessel collaboration launches

The memorandum of understanding will see the two collaborate on developing autonomous and greener-fuelled vessels designed in line with the latest industry standards.

IRS has also presented GRSE with a product certificate for its ‘AI-enabled NDT-Intelligent Weld Inspector’.

“Taking cognisance of the changing technology landscape, GRSE while continuing its focus on conventional shipbuilding, has created a separate vertical for autonomous vessels and green shipping,” said chair and managing director of GRSE, Commodore P.R. Hari (Retd.).

“The MOU with IRS will facilitate this foray in the new technology arena, while further cementing the long-standing relationship that GRSE shares with IRS.”

Arun Sharma, executive chair of IRS, said that the partnership with GRSE emphasised the company’s commitment to promoting innovation and sustainability. “Our objective is to combine our expertise with GRSE’s capabilities to develop autonomous and green vessels aligned with the industry’s changing needs and environmental targets,” he said.
