Preem to charter Sirius newbuilds

The two Sirius Evolution 15K tankers are said to have a significantly lower environmental impact than previous iterations.

The 15,000dwt tankers have a cargo capacity of 17,500m³. At 147 metres long and 22 metres wide, they are classed to Ice class 1A and feature a 5,850kW shore power connection.

The vessels are equipped with a 2-stroke main engine that can be converted for methanol operation, battery back-up and shore power connection. Their hulls, rudder and propeller have been designed with efficiency in mind, meaning the vessels have an EEDI of 5.50, around 40% lower than regulations for 2025 demand.

The tankers will be long-term chartered by Preem to mainly distribute finished products but also to supply the refineries with renewable feedstock.

The two vessels will fly the Swedish flag with home port Donsö in the Gothenburg archipelago and will be delivered to Preem in the second half of 2026.
