Anemoi and NAPA team up for Rotor Sails boost

This collaboration between two leaders in maritime technology will allow vessels equipped with Anemoi’s Rotor Sails to access essential weather and voyage optimisation data. Shipowners and operators will be empowered to select routes that maximise the performance of their Rotor Sail-equipped vessels, optimizing fuel efficiency and significantly reducing emissions.

As part of the agreement, NAPA’s software will be offered as an option with all future sales of Anemoi’s Rotor Sails, including installations on both newbuilds and retrofitted ships.

NAPA Voyage Optimisation software delivers customised route recommendations by leveraging a 3D performance model tailored to each vessel, including its sail configurations. The software integrates weather routing, route networks, and port data to propose routes that account for wind speeds, wave conditions, currents, water depth, and safety considerations. This data-driven approach enables captains to choose voyage paths that allow the Rotor Sail technology to operate at peak efficiency.

Rotor Sail technologies are increasingly recognised as vital energy-saving solutions, helping vessel owners meet stringent international emission reduction targets such as the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI), and the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII). Anemoi’s Rotor Sails have demonstrated the potential to reduce carbon emissions by up to 30% on routes with favourable wind conditions.
