Schottel powers new offshore vessels
The 100m vessels, designed by Norway’s Salt Ship Design under the Salt 308 OCV model, will feature Schottel’s propulsion technology to meet the needs of deep-water offshore operations at depths of up to 3,000 metres.
“We would like to thank all project partners for the confidence they have placed in Schottel to equip this series of OCVs with our thrusters,” says Roland Schwandt, deputy chief executive of Schottel.
The vessels are being built for an undisclosed European owner and will be used in both the traditional oil and gas sectors as well as the renewable energy industry.
The order for each vessel comprises:
- Two Dynamic RudderPropellers type SRP 610 DL with a propeller diameter of 3,200mm and an input power of 2,700kW.
- One Retractable RudderPropeller type SRP-R 380L with a diameter of 2,200mm, input power of 1,500kW, equipped with a 8-degree tilted propeller shaft
- Two elastically-mounted TransverseThrusters type STT 6 with input power of 2,050 kW and a diameter of 2,740 mm.
The new alternative fuel-ready Salt 308 OCV has a length of 100 metres, a beam of 23 metres, a draught of 6.5 metres and a deck area of 1,150 square metres. The first vessel is expected to be delivered in late 2026.
