Flexible methanol-fuelled vessels partnership
The new contract encompasses the complete basic and detailed design of four vessels, with options for additional units.
Deltamarin has worked with ESL Shipping to refine the concept design and will provide ongoing support throughout the entire design lifecycle.
These vessels are optimised for key trade routes in the Baltic Sea and transatlantic crossings, while also offering the flexibility to operate on large lakes in the US and Canada.
Designed with adaptability in mind, the vessels can transport a wide range of cargo such as containers, bulk materials, project cargo, timber and paper products and are alternative-fuel ready from day one.
A unique feature of the design is an accommodation block at the bow, allowing long project cargo to extend over the stern. By incorporating tweendecks to maximise capacity, the vessels can also efficiently handle mixed cargo.
This project represents a continuation of Deltamarin’s longstanding partnership with ESL Shipping, building on previous successes including the award-winning Haaga and Viikki general dry cargo ships recognised by the Clean Shipping Index for their environmental performance.
