NRG Marine’s ultrasonic systems use microscopic bubbles that disrupt surfaces to prevent fouling, scaling and sludge accumulation, resulting in reduced maintenance and improved performance.

In marine applications, the technology reduces fuel use and combats biofouling which contributes to the spread of invasive species. The system provides an eco-friendly alternative to traditional cleaning methods, reducing the use of harsh chemicals and minimising downtime.

The ultrasonic technology is also beneficial for the oil and gas sector, where it helps maintain stationary surfaces by preventing biofouling. It is ATEX-approved, ensuring safety in hazardous environments.

Alfa Laval’s acquisition of NRG Marine marks a significant step towards providing advanced, cost-effective solutions that improve efficiency while minimising environmental impact.

The acquisition is expected to close by Q2 2025.
