Wärtsilä extends its support for the Viking Glory

The contract aims to reduce unscheduled maintenance, improve efficiency and ensure cost predictability providing both engine maintenance and vessel monitoring services.

“We already have two ferries covered by Wärtsilä agreements and have been extremely pleased with the service and support they provide,” said Mathias Sundberg, technical manager at Viking Line.

Expert insight

The five-year agreement covers six Wärtsilä 31DF dual-fuel engines, six Gas Valve Units, and two LNGPac fuel systems onboard the vessel. 

Viking Glory has previously been supported by an earlier Wärtsilä agreement since its launch in 2021 and this renewal further extends and expands the partnership and benefits provided by that agreement. 

The new agreement includes Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight, an AI-driven predictive maintenance service that detects potential failures before they occur.

This proactive approach to vessel monitoring will help enhance fuel efficiency, lower emissions and optimise operational performance of the vessel.

Viking Line’s fleet also includes the Viking Grace, the first dual-fuel ferry powered by LNG. Both ferries operate between Finland and Sweden.
