The collaboration integrates BetterSea’s FuelEU Pooling Marketplace directly into the OceanOpt platform, enabling users to manage FuelEU pooling transactions within their existing emissions tracking and decarbonisation tools.

“Our clients needed a way to operationalise FuelEU pooling without having to bolt on more tools,” explained Anil Jacob, managing director, OceanOpt.

“By integrating BetterSea’s marketplace, we’ve delivered that — bringing the market to them, inside the OceanOpt platform.”

OceanOpt will provide end-to-end support, including document verification, data correction, FuelEU-aligned accounting services and transaction execution.

The company will also help in defining banking or borrowing strategies, registering clients in the FuelEU database and obtaining the required FuelEU Document of Compliance.

For clients engaged in pooling, OceanOpt will also manage administrative submissions to verifiers.

“This partnership adds hundreds of ships and top-tier operators and additional expertise to our platform,” said Maximilian Schroer, co-chief executive, BetterSea.

“It strengthens our core promise – to make FuelEU pooling transparent, accessible and standardised for everyone involved.”
