Yara Clean Ammonia signs deal with Navigator Amon

The 51,000m³ vessels will feature dual-fuel engines and ice class notation, providing YCA with year-round transport capacity to Northern Europe. According to the company, the ships will support the use of renewable and low-emission fuels, ensuring a reliable supply chain in line with its decarbonisation objectives.

Navigator chief executive Mads Peter Zacho has previously noted that the newbuildings will incorporate technologies designed to meet both current and anticipated environmental requirements. The ships are scheduled for delivery in June and October 2028 and will enter service on a five-year charter with YCA upon completion.

Construction will be carried out at Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore and Engineering in China. Each vessel project has received an investment grant of NOK90m from Norwegian Government agency Enova. Navigator Amon expects the majority of the financing to come from commercial banks, with the balance provided through capital contributions from joint venture partners Navigator Gas and Amon Maritime.
