The initiative aims to connect a leading European e-methanol producer with industrial offtakers, offering a reliable and transparent mechanism to secure long-term, RFNBO-certified supply of this low-carbon fuel.

DNV’s tender addresses a key market challenge: sourcing verifiable, regulation-compliant e-fuels in a tightening supply landscape.

“The technology for e-methanol exists, but the market mechanisms to scale it are still forming,” said Santiago Blanco, vice-president and regional director at DNV.

“By launching this tender, we are applying our neutral expertise to de-risk the procurement process for both producers and offtakers. This is about turning ambition into actionable supply agreements and accelerating the fuel transition in Europe.”

Produced from renewable hydrogen and biogenic carbon, e-methanol aligns with regulatory frameworks such as RED III, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime and supports compliance with IMO decarbonisation goals.

The tender process involves a two-stage structure – a non-binding qualification phase to shortlist serious offtakers, followed by direct negotiations with the producer. Deliveries are expected to begin in H2 2028, with flexible options across EU and UK locations.

Interested companies can access the tender portal through the DNV website.
