The round brings together major maritime investors including OCTAVE Capital, Katapult Ocean, Motion Ventures, the Odfjell family office and the ReOcean Fund, alongside continued support from existing backers.

“This round signals a new phase for bound4blue,” said chief executive and co-founder José Miguel Bermúdez.

“Earlier stages focused on proving the technology and validating its impact. This latest funding enables us to expand capacity, accelerate our growth roadmap and advance new developments that will elevate both the technology and our services to the next level.”

The capital injection comes as suction sails move rapidly from early-stage innovation to what investors describe as bankable climate infrastructure. OCTAVE Capital chief executive May Liew said: “We invested in bound4blue because wind propulsion systems have moved from promising innovation to proven, scalable climate infrastructure. For the maritime sector this technology provides the real and immediate carbon emissions reductions needed right now.”

Katapult Ocean chief executive Jonas Skattum Svegaarden echoed that assessment, noting that the company’s results across multiple fleets demonstrate impact at a ‘category-defining pace’.

The funding will support expansion of manufacturing capacity in Spain and China, enabling production of hundreds of suction sails annually. With seven vessels already operating the system and more than fifty sails on order, bound4blue expects its technology to deliver hundreds of thousands of tons of CO2 savings before the end of the decade.
