Awake.AI and Tidalis target emissions

The agreement will combine Awake.AI’s Emission Monitor platform with Tidalis’s vessel traffic services and port management systems already used by ports, coastguards and maritime authorities worldwide.

The companies said the partnership is designed to help maritime operators meet expanding reporting obligations linked to FuelEU Maritime, the EU Emissions Trading System and the International Maritime Organization’s decarbonisation targets.

“Ports already manage large amounts of operational vessel data every day,” said Karno Tenovuo, chief executive of Awake.AI.

“You cannot decarbonise what you cannot measure. The challenge is turning that data into reliable and auditable emissions reporting that supports both compliance and operational decision-making.”

Under the collaboration, operational port-call, vessel, fuelling, cargo handling, shore power and gate-event data will be integrated into automated Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions reporting. The companies said the system is intended to reduce manual reporting processes while improving transparency across port and vessel operations.

Tenovuo added that deployments in European ports would begin this year to support corporate sustainability reporting directive requirements.

Tidalis chief executive Geert-Jan den Besten said ports were increasingly seeking practical methods to improve emissions transparency without disrupting vessel operations.

The companies said the rollout would later expand into Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and the Americas during 2026 and 2027.
