ABS and Hyundai drive digital innovation

Under the memorandum of understanding, the companies will explore joint opportunities supporting decarbonisation, digital transformation and evolving operational requirements across the ocean energy sector.

Areas of cooperation include offshore wind development, offshore substations, small modular reactors, offshore spaceport infrastructure and carbon capture and storage solutions.

The collaboration will also examine enabling digital technologies designed to improve operational efficiency, sustainability and safety across offshore assets and marine infrastructure.

“By leveraging our deep marine and offshore experience and HHI’s extensive expertise in ocean energy and offshore engineering, we can help meet evolving sustainability and operational goals.”

The partnership comes as maritime and offshore operators increasingly invest in alternative energy systems and digital technologies to comply with tightening emissions regulations and improve long-term competitiveness.

Kwangsik Won, senior executive vice president of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, said industry collaboration would be essential as the global energy transition accelerates.
