Kongsberg simulator gains DNV approval

The Aurora Class has been developed to support Höegh Autoliners’ target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. Kongsberg markets the vessels as designed with multi-fuel capability and prepared for operation on zero-carbon fuels such as ammonia, while also incorporating energy-efficient technologies and advanced onboard systems. Each vessel can transport up to 9,100 vehicles and includes enhanced capabilities for electric vehicle carriage.

Kongsberg Maritime said the simulator approval marks an important step in ensuring crews are fully prepared to operate increasingly sophisticated and environmentally focused vessel systems.

The company has played a significant role in supporting the Aurora Class programme through integrated technologies covering automation, propulsion optimisation and digital solutions designed to improve operational efficiency and reduce emissions throughout the vessel lifecycle.

With the Statement of Compliance now secured, the Höegh Aurora ERS model has been added to Kongsberg Maritime’s standard simulator portfolio and is available for deployment at maritime training centres worldwide.
