NexusWave secures cyber security approval
The certification follows a comprehensive assessment of NexusWave’s onboard Information and Communication Technology (ICT) architecture and equipment against the International Association of Classification Societies’ latest cyber security standard, Unified Requirement UR E27 (Rev.1).
“Cyber resilience has become a critical operational requirement for shipowners,” said Gert-Jan Panken, general manager and vice president of Inmarsat Maritime.
“The ClassNK Cyber Security certification independently verifies that NexusWave has been designed from the ground up to be secure and resilient.”
UR E27 establishes mandatory requirements designed to ensure the cyber resilience of shipboard systems and equipment, helping reduce the risk and impact of cyber incidents that could affect the safe and reliable operation of vessels.
As part of the approval process, ClassNK evaluated not only individual components but also NexusWave’s wider onboard ICT architecture. The assessment included onboard network equipment, orchestration processes and managed service edge infrastructure, providing verification of the system’s resilience as an integrated operational platform.
