Mitsui delivers latest handy-max bulkers

The first 56,169 dwt newbuilding, named Yasa Kaptan Erbil, was delivered to Turkish owner Ya-Sa Denizcilik Sanayi ve Ticaret. The second vessel, named Ocean Leader, was handed over to Taiwanese shipowner Mingtai Navigation.

Powered by a Mitsui built MAN B&W 6S50MC-C low-speed diesel engine with an output of 9,070 kW at 125 rpm, these bulkers have a service speed of 14.5 knots.

The 190m long, 32.26m wide vessels have five cargo holds with a total capacity of over 70,000 m³ and are fitted with four cargo handling cranes. In order to load various kinds of cargo, the vessels are built with exceptionally large hatch openings and strengthened cargo tank tops to handle heavy cargoes such as steel coils and long pipes.

They are designed in accordance with IACS URS25 so that loading flexibility has been secured and structural safety has been improved. Ballast water can be changed during navigation for protection of marine environment.
