He joins the Institute from the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) where, as head of operations, he has been responsible for the operational delivery of maritime safety information to the UK Government and the maritime community since his appointment in April 2007.

”I am delighted to be joining the IMarEST at such an exciting time in its history,” says David Loosley. The board of trustees, the council and the executive team have already made good progress in building a strong platform for the future success of the Institute and I am very much looking forward to taking on this challenge.”

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming David Loosley to the IMarEST in November,” says Professor Chris Hodge, chairman of the board of trustees. ”His career spans the Royal Navy, the commercial world, the UKHO, and also non-executive roles within a Primary Care Trust, providing him with a particularly rich mix of experience that will serve him well in his new role with us. In welcoming David, I and the entire board of trustees would like to pay tribute to Fiona Morris, the Institute’s interim chief executive whose period in office has included our move from Coleman Street to Aldgate House – her dedication and unstinting work on behalf of IMarEST is greatly appreciated by all.”
