LNG ferry commissioning problems resolved

The partners clarified an earlier announcement, noting that the mentioned ‘engine problems’ had occurred in the commissioning of the newbuild; there has been no technical failure in, or damage to, the two nine-cylinder Wärtsilä 20DF medium-speed engines.

Wärtsilä’s involvement in the DNV GL-classed vessel, which will run mainly on LNG fuel, comprises the innovative engines, reduction gears and controllable pitch propellers as well as the LNG storage and supply system.

The German ship had been due to sail to Cuxhaven for the first time on Saturday (18 July) after naming at the Westkaje on the German Bight island of Heligoland. The maiden voyage will now be rescheduled by the ship owner and yard.
