Oceana yard’s first newbuild delivered

CBO Oceana was delivered to shipowner Oceana Offshore on 30 March 2016 and has subsequently started on a six-year chart for Petrobras.

Paul Kempers, yard manager, Oceana Shipyard, said: “During her sea trial, I received several reports from the engineers and the Captain on the excellent results in speed, fuel consumption and sea keeping.”

A sister vessel is also under construction at the yard and is scheduled for completion by the end of the second quarter this year.

For the second ship, using the experience gained from the CBO Oceana, Mr Kempers said that the construction process will be a smooth one.

Ulstein’s PX105 design is a large PSV design, suitable for work in the Brazilian oil industry.

The vessels are 88.9m long and 19m wide and have accommodation for 23 people. With a DWT of 4,700 tonnes they comply with Petrobras’ PSV 4500 tender.

These vessels have a high operational window and can take on complex assignments far from shore. They come with the X-BOW hull line design feature, which minimises slamming from waves. The design is also more cost-effective because they save fuel.

The size and versatility of these vessels make them suitable for many markets and operations.

Ulstein’s contract with Oceana included an extended main equipment package, as well as engineering and purchase support.
