COSCO appoints C-Job for windfarm vessel design

The Dutch company also provided the concept design for the 216.5m vessel, which features DP3 capability, accommodation for up to 131 people. Substantial load and lift capabilities – more than 3,000 tonnes at more than 50m, installing components to higher than 170m – will enable the vessel to work across installations and decommissioning projects in the wind, oil and gas sectors.

The ship, due for delivery in 2019. will boast dual-fuel propulsion (diesel and LNG), a waste heat recovery system and other environmental technology enabling it to hold Green Passport and Clean Design notations.

Jack-up installation vessels are reaching their limits in terms of vessel strength and payload capacity. Orion’s technical specs will give her a future-proof position in the offshore wind turbine and foundation installation market.”
