Developed in response to increasingly unpredictable operating conditions, the ACCX300-L promises a redesigned platform combining simplified architecture, enhanced serviceability and integrated digital capabilities.

“More than just an evolutionary improvement, the ACCX300-L is a re-imagined turbocharging concept built around the operational realities shipowners and operators face today,” explained Christoph Rofka, president of Accelleron’s Medium and Low Speed Division.

“By combining next-generation turbocharger technology with transformed serviceability, data connectivity and a simplified platform design, we are giving customers greater control over how their assets are configured, maintained and optimised over time.”

A key feature of the new turbocharger is its service-friendly cartridge concept, which allows the entire rotating subassembly to be exchanged during a port stay. Over a typical 25-year vessel lifespan, this approach can reduce scheduled service events while improving uptime and lifecycle cost predictability.

The ACCX300-L also introduces a simplified platform design, reducing frame sizes from five to two. This standardisation streamlines spare parts management and allows flexible configurations across different vessel types, supporting both single and twin turbocharger arrangements. In twin setups, an automatic cut-in/cut-out function enhances efficiency during slow steaming by optimising load distribution and reducing fuel consumption.

Integrated digital connectivity further enhances performance by enabling continuous monitoring of turbocharger health through onboard data such as temperature, speed and RPM. This supports predictive maintenance and more informed operational decision-making.

Following successful qualification testing after its initial unveiling in 2023, the ACCX300-L is now available to order.
