HELION’s new FC-RACK Marine generator has a double envelope enclosure ensuring a perfect seal in a saline environment as well as a thermal management system, onboard control system and hydrogen safety system. It can be installed on or below decks.

The FC-RACK Marine uses the Alstom subsidiary’s sixth generation of hydrogen fuel cells. “This new generation of fuel cells is in line with our pillars of durability, safety, and maintainability,” said Vincent Maheo, president of HELION Hydrogen Power.

“The substantive work that has been carried out along with our certifying partner confirms our belief that the product meets the requirements of the maritime sector. The latter also suggests that our FC-RACK Marine will quickly obtain final approval [Type Approval Certificate].

“This certificate will lead to the industrialization of the FC-RACK Marine in order to provide a reliable and robust solution to our customers in the marine industry in their decarbonisation ambitions.”

Operational by the end of 2023, HELION’s marine-certified fuel cell will supply zero-emission power to reportedly the world’s first hybrid diesel-hydrogen dredger currently being built by Piriou shipyard for operation in the Occitanie Region.
