bound4blue expands Asian production

The move positions the company closer to Asia’s key shipbuilding hubs, where demand for low-emission solutions is growing.

“China is central to the future of maritime decarbonisation,” said Juan José Arrebola, chief operating officer of bound4blue.

“By expanding our production network and partnerships here, we’re ensuring our suction sails can be delivered faster, at greater scale, and with the same quality standards that have defined our European operations.”

The new facilities, located around Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta, will operate through a network of industrial partners with expertise in naval and offshore manufacturing. They are certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards, regularly reviewed by classification societies including DNV and Lloyd’s Register, and are expected to produce up to 100 eSAIL units annually by 2026.

The company has also partnered with Chinese manufacturers of heavy marine equipment, structural components and lifting systems. Initially focusing on production and logistics, these collaborations are set to expand into after-sales service as regional fleets adopt the technology.
