CAD company Aveva has announced the availability of a new specialized product in its marine portfolio, Aveva Pipe Supports – Marine 12.1, developed to meet the requirements of the shipbuilding industry.

Keppel Shipyard says it has secured floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) upgrading projects from its long-term partners SBM Offshore and Bumi Armada. Combined value of the two projects is S$170million.

The XTS-W bearing wear monitor, from UK company Amot, which provides real-time protection of large two-stroke engine crank bearings by detecting wear before major damage occurs, has received NK type approval.

ABS has combined with the Research & Development Corporation of Newfoundland and Labrador (RDC) in a $600,000 investment for the ABS Harsh Environment Technology Center and associated research programme.
