Cenex joins the Maritime Battery Forum

As an independent, not-for-profit research technology organisation (RTO) and consultancy, Cenex specialises in delivering low-emission transport projects, innovation support, and market development. The organisation also focuses on the energy infrastructure needed to support sustainable transport.

According to the MBF, Cenex has contributed to several electrification projects, including initiatives involving small ferries (fewer than 99 passengers), electric rigid inflatable boats (RIBs), and small-scale charging systems for farms and leisure craft.

Cenex is currently a partner in the collaborative research and development initiative Virtual Bunkering of Electric Vessels Demonstrator, which seeks to explore the potential value of electric vessels as part of the energy grid.

Commenting on the membership, Graham Hodgson, team leader for technical Innovation at Cenex, said: “Cenex is thrilled to join the Maritime Battery Forum! Our knowledge and capabilities developed through our experiences in battery electrification within the road transport sector give us an exciting opportunity to help the maritime industry electrify faster.”

The Maritime Battery Forum now includes over 87 members across three continents. Its mission is to share information, foster discussions, and review emerging technologies that complement battery-based solutions. Luxembourg-based shipping group CLdN is among the latest to join the forum’s growing community.
