Charter contracts for Northern Lights LCO2 carriers marked

The London-based subsidiary “K” LINE LNG Shipping (UK) Ltd. will undertake the management of the two ships, which are due for delivery in 2024 from Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC) and will contribute to the world’s first full-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) value chain. The vessels will support the Northern Lights carbon capture and storage project, transporting greenhouse gas from industrial emitters, including the Norcem Brevik and Hafslund Oslo Celsio carbon capture facilities, to an onshore terminal in Øygarden, Norway.

The ceremony commemorates the signature of the contracts, which were exchanged on 19 December 2022. At the time, the companies confirmed that the ships will be classified by DNV and will be registered in Norway and operated under Norwegian (NOR) flag by mainly Norwegian mariners.
