Chipolbrok launched new building Adam Asnyk in China
Built by COSCO Dalian Shipyard, she is the first in a six-ship series of multipurpose heavy lift vessels ordered in 2006. Each vessel has a lifting capacity of 640 tonnes and will be employed within the Chipolbrok round the world shipping services between China, other major Far East ports, to the US and then to Europe.
The second in the series, Chipolbrok Star, was delivered in December 2009 and the other four units are scheduled to be delivered by mid 2011 and will be named, Parandowski, Chipolbrok Galaxy, Kraszewski and Chipolbrok Cosmos.
The Adam Asnyk is strengthened for heavy cargo, equipped for carriage of containers, suitable for carrying dry bulk cargo including grain, coal, metal concentrates and salt, sugar, cement in bags as well as scrap metal and ore, general cargo including cotton and other agricultural products, steel products, project cargoes and containers. She can also carry certain classes of IMO dangerous goods in specific cargo areas.
With a deadweight tonnage of 30,332 tonnes (at 11.0m scantling draught) and a gross weight of 24,115 tons, the newbuilding measures 199.80m in length overall, has a moulded breadth of 27.80m, a design draught of 10.30m and a moulded depth of 15.50m.
The propulsion system comprises a single Cegielski built Wärtsilä 7RT-flex60C two-stroke diesel engine with an output of 16,520kW at 114 rpm driving a single fixed pitch propeller for a service speed of 19.2 knots. To aid manoeuvrability, the vessel is fitted with a Wuhan-Kawasaki KT-105B3 CPP bow thruster. Auxiliary power is provided by three 1,200kW Wärtsilä 6L20 medium speed diesel gensets.
The five cargo holds have a total capacity of about 37,000 m3 grain or 40,000 m3 bale and are served by nine hatches. Hatch dimensions range from 18.96 x 12.92m for No.1 hold to twin 31.60 x 10.50m hatches for Nos 3 and 4. All hatch covers are Macgregor and the largest holds, i.e. 2, 3 and 4, are equipped with adjustable tweendecks.
Container capacity is 1,108 TEU on deck and 796 TEU in the holds giving a total of 1,902 TEU of which 50 can be reefer type boxes.
Adam Asnyk is dual classed by Polski Rejestr Statkow (PRS) and Lloyd’s Register (LR) and is registered in Cyprus.
Chipolbrok currently has a fleet of over 20 multipurpose triple-deck vessels with a total capacity of about 500,000 dwt trading between Asia, Europe, America and Africa.
