ClassNK approval for straight leg course control

The ‘Advanced Control for Ecology Function’ can be integrated with the autopilot systems PR-9000 and PR-6000 to automatically plot a straight route using only the ship’s current position and the destination heading.

While navigating, it continuously estimates disturbances such as tidal currents and wind and calculates the cross track distance to control the rudder optimally.

ClassNK has verified all functions of the system, namely the realisation of straight leg course control considering disturbances without using ECDIS, the reduction of route deviation and wasteful steering, the realisation of shorter sailing distances compared to a conventional heading control system, and the ability to contribute to energy efficiency and navigation safety.
