ClassNK backing for combustion catalysts

Innospec’s Octamar Combustion Catalyst Series has been certified by ClassNK as improving fuel economy, cutting down on piston fouling, improving the cleanliness condition and efficiency of the turbocharger and economiser and reducing unburned carbon deposits in the exhaust system.

In July 2020, to promote the spread and development of innovative technologies, ClassNK launched Innovation Endorsement as a swift certification service with technological front runners helping establish the evaluation criteria. Among the certification categories, ‘Products & Solutions’ covers digital equipment and software technology installed for use on vessels.

Under the Innovation Endorsement framework, ClassNK experts examined documents on the functions of Innospec Octamar Combustion Catalyst series which comprises Octamar Ultra HF, Octamar Complete, and Octamar F35C.
