The vessel is a sister vessel to the Containerships Nord, which entered service in January 2019, and was classified by ABS.

The vessel was built by China’s Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard. A third and fourth vessels of the same design are scheduled for delivery by the end of the year.

Each vessel has an overall length of 161.36m, beam of 26.9m, and a draught of 12m, with a capacity of 1,380 TEU. The vessel includes 360 reefer plugs.

The vessel is driven by a WinGD dual-fuel 7RT-Flex50DF main engine, with a maximum continuous output of 10,080 kW at 124 rpm. The Containerships Nord’s auxiliary engine is a dual-fuel six-litre in-line Wärtsilä W6L20DF, with a rated output of 1110 kW at 1200 rpm, while the vessel also features 3 x MAN D2842LE301 gensets, producing 620 kW at 1800 rpm.

The vessels’ specification to Finnish/Swedish ice class 1A standard enhances overall operational scope for the ports located in the northern Baltic Sea.

The vessels will be bunkered once per roundtrip in Rotterdam during their regular service loop between Containerships’ ports in the North Sea and Baltic.

The vessel entered service on 23 June, serving a redesigned weekly service along with Containerships Nord, serving Teesport, Zeebrugge, Rotterdam, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Riga, and Gdynia.

During regular service, the vessels are expected to operate using LNG alone, ensuring regulatory compliance in sulphur Emission Control Area (ECA) zones. This forms part of Containerships’ strategy to create an integrated LNG based door-to-door supply chain in Europe.
