CSSC independently designs cruise ship
The ship has a total length of 293.5 metres and a width of 34 metres. In order to reduce resistance, CSSC improved the design by optimising the wind field and hydrodynamic performance of the superstructure. The vessel also has energy-saving devices that enable it to meet EEDI Phase III requirements. The vessel’s technical indicators, such as sailing speed and load capacity, compare with the most advanced similar international mainstream ship types.
CSSC has defined the public spaces and cabin areas with air-conditioning systems that meet the EPC3 standards given in CCS’ Safety Guidelines for Ship Epidemic Prevention.
The new vessel design is an important milestone for CSSC, demonstrating its ability to apply key technologies in the overall design of cruise ships. The close cooperation between CCS and CSSC is expected to lead to more cruise ship construction activity in the Chinese shipbuilding industry and the development of a related supply chain.
Earlier this year, CSSC began construction of the nation’s second large cruise ship at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. The 341-metre, 142,000gt ship will have 2,144 guest rooms and a maximum speed of 22.7 knots.
China’s first large cruise ship is expected to be delivered from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding in the second half of 2023.
