Cylinder success for Hansa Shipping vessel

The vessel’s MAN B&W 7K90MC-C engine has been taking Lukoil Navigo 70 MCL at minimum feed rate of 0.50-0.55g/kW/h (depending on fuel sulphur content) for several years, with monitoring by Lukoil’s Cylinder Scrapedown Analysis Service. The vessel has been operating mainly under slow steaming on fuel with a sulphur content of around 3.5%.

Stefan Claussen, technical and marketing director at Lukoil Marine, said: “Initially, we started at 0.6 g/kW/h, which we were able to reduce to the minimum feed rate of first 0.55 g/kW/h and later 0.50 g/kW/h.”

The engine is in excellent condition after more than 33,000 running hours. In his report Karl Bjarnason, superintendent engineer at MAN PrimeServ Middle East wrote: “If the engine’s present running conditions are retained, there are still many more running hours left for the pistons.”
