DFDS orders ro-ro pair from Jinling
The ships, due for delivery in early 2019, will feature exhaust gas cleaning scrubbers and ballast water treatment systems. They will be deployed on DFDS’ North Sea route network.
With a 6,700 lane metre capacity, the equivalent of around 450 trailers, the vessels are significantly bigger than the group’s current ro-ro fleet. DFDS said that the larger size will derease unit costs as well as economic impact per transported unit.
The company noted that order is part of DFDS’ fleet renewal to accommodate the growth of its freight customers, increase operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
