DuPont nets Condor scrubber contract

DuPont will provide four, single-stream, open-loop, gas-cleaning units for Commodore Clipper and Commodore Goodwill, which each feature two main engines rated at around 4.5MW. The systems will allow the ferries to meet all IMO Annex VI sulphur requirements while continuing to operate on heavy fuel oil. Each main engine will have a dedicated exhaust gas-cleaning unit.

“By fitting Commodore Clipper and Commodore Goodwill with these scrubbers, we will minimise sulphur oxide and particulate emissions whilst keeping prices as low as possible for freight transport to and from the islands,” said Captain Frances Collins, executive director, operations, Condor Ferries.

This contract represents collaboration between several parties – Oceanox Ltd, which will be managing the project, and Houlder as naval architect.

The systems are scheduled to be installed for fall 2015 and performance testing is scheduled for early 2016.
